DAVIS, Henry W. (Judah). W.350.

4 April 1820. Henry W. Davis of Williamson Co… Tenn., declares he enlisted in the Virginia Continental Line under Capt. William Adams and was marched and joined the army at Albemarle old Court House and was under Capt. Kirkpatrick and Col. William Gaskins and next under Col. Febiger. He enlisted in 1779 for eighteen months and served his time and was discharged. He is in his 61st year, old and infirm.

4 April 1820. Benjamin Davis of Plaury Co., Tenn., declares Henry W. Davis is a very poor man. He was taken sick and brought-home and after he got well returned to the army and served out his time.

21 Nov. 1820. Henry W. Davis of Williamson Co., Tenn., aged 61, declares he enlisted in the Virginia Continental Line in the company of Capt. William Adams in Fluvanna Co., Va., and joined the army under Capt. Kirkpatrick at Albemarle old Court House. The regiment was then commanded by Col. William Gaskins and shortly after.by Col. Febiger. He enlisted about 1 April 1779 for eighteen months and was discharged in Oct. 1781 by Col. Febiger at Cumberland old Court House.

He-owns one feather bed and furniture, one straw bed and clothes, one barshear plow, a shovel plow, one tongue plow, one Coulter plow, two axes…four hoes, one sow and eight shoats, one set of knives and forks, one half dozen felft plates, one set of wedges, two delft dishes, ten geese, eight chickens, two guinea fowls, one washing tub, one pail, two piggins and one noggin, one small look chain, one pair of drawing chains, two bells; all the rest of his property’and household furniture has been sold to satisfy,a debt’.

He is a farmer; is able to work little on account of rheumatism and sciatica pains. He is also very dimsighted.

He has a wife Judith aged 58, crippled by a fall from a horse. His daughter Polly is in her 15th year. All the rest of his children have left home and are providing for themselves. Fe has one grandchild with him, 4 years old, named Paralee Venable. Her mother is dead and her father run away.

6 Aug. 1821. Williamson Co., Tenn. Henry W. Davis of said county, aged 62 and upwards, declares he enlisted in the Virginia Continental Line in the company of Capt. William Adams in Fluvann’a Co., Va., and joined the army under Capt. Kirkpatrick at Albemarle old Court House. The regiment was commanded by Col. William Gaskins and shortly after was under Col. Febiger. He enlisted about 1 April 1779 for eighteen months and.was discharged in Oct. 1781 by Col. Febiger at Cumberland old Court House.

All the rest of his-property and household furniture has been sold to satisfy debts. He is a farmer but is able to work little on account of rheumatism and sciatica. He is also very dim sighted.

He has a wife Judith, aged 58, crippled from a fall from a horse, one daughter Polly who is the only child that lives with him and assists in maintaining the family. She is in her 16th year. All the rest of his children have left him and are providing for themselves and are over 21 years of age. One grandchild 4 years old, Paralee Varables, lives with him. Her mother is dead and her father has left the state.

5 March 1836. Davidson Co.,,’Tenn. Henry W. Davis declares he now resides in said county and has resided there for five years. Previous thereto he resided in Williamson Co., Tenn., thirteen years.

22 May 1843. Benton Co., Tenn. Judah (X) Davis of said county, aged 78 on 8 March last, declares she is the widow of Henry W. Davis. She was married 1 Aug. 1787 and her husband died 1 Jan. 1837.

1 22 May 1843. Benton Co., Tenn. Henry W.Davis, Jr. of said county declares he saw Henry W. Davis, Sr., die on 1 Jan. 1837.
