Pension Application

BOXWELL., Robert,
29 April 1818. Allegany Co, Md. Robert Boxwell of said county, aged 61, declares he enlisted in Frederick Co. Va.,
in 1781 in the company of Capt. Kirkpatrick in the lst Virginia Regiment and served until 1782 when discharged. He was at the siege of York and was engaged in several skirmishes with the British at Savannah, Ga.

11 Oct, 1820. Allegany Co. Md. Robert Boxwell., aged 64, declares he enlisted about March 1781 in Capt. Abraham Kirkpatrick’s company of infantry., afterward attached to Capt, Conners and last to Capt. Williams company., and was engaged in a skirmish with the Indians under Gen. Wayne near Savannah, Ga. He served nineteen months and was discharged about Sept, 1782 at Cumberland Court House after the siege of York.

He owns a mare, five cows, four yearlings, two heifers, nine hogs, a harrow and old barshear plow, two old shovel plows, three old hoess three old axes, two old mattocks, three pair of horse gears much worno a chest and table, half dozen chairs, one dung-and one pitchfork, cupboard and dough trough, old maul and iron wedge, three buckets, kitchen furniture and old side saddle., and owes debts of $200.

He is a farmer, He had his thigh bone broken and hip put out of joint and thinks neither is in place, His wife is aged 59 and he has children Robert Boxwell aged 20 -years and 9 monthsp William Boxwell aged 19 -years and 5 monthss Mary Bo—-well aged 16 years, Elizabeth Boxviell aged 13 years., Deborah Boxwell aged 11 years and John Boxwell aged 9 years.

17 June 1858, T. Spaulding., attorney at Peoria, Ill,, writes that the heirs of Robert Boxwell who died in 1825 claim additional payment. Robert was a Virginian and belonged to the Virginia troops as did his brother Joseph, who was also a pensioners

Robert Boxwell of Allegany Cos. Md,, private in the regiment of Col. Gibson in the Virginia Line for twelve months, was placed on the Maryland pension roll at $8 per month from 29 April 1818 under the Act of 1818. Certificate 7510 was issued 9 March 1819. Discontinued in 1820.
