…resident of said county, declares he enlisted in Stafford County in 1781 for 18 months in the company of Capt. Scott (under Marquis Lafayette) in the Virginia Line on Continental establishment. He was shortly transferred to the company of Capt. Thomas Martin (first under Col. or Gen. Febarger and afterward under Col. Thomas Posey) and continued until discharged at Cumberland Court House in 1782, His discharge was ruined by getting wet in New River as he moved to Kentucky.

Thomas Hughes of Bourbon County served with him,

He owns only one horse, yearling colt and spring colt, old mare, three heads (?], two cowsp one old plow and two traceso and cooking and table utensils.

27 Aug, 1825. Bourbon Co., Ky. Thomas Hughes declares he knew Elijah Abbot during the war and that he was a soldier for about a year and a half.

3 Oct. 1825, Bourbon Co., Ky. Elijah (X) Abbot, aged about 64, declares he enlisted 18 March 1781 for 18 mcnths in company of Capt, Thomas Martin.

3 Oct, 1825. Elijah (X) Abbot declares his property as a bay yearling colt, old sorrel horse, milch cow, two young cattle, household and kitchen furniture, plow and pair of giers, and clothing and bedding, valued at $82.50. He is a farmer and rents his place. His family consists of himself.. wife aged about 64 or 65, and daughter aged 20 who is subject to frequent sickness. For the past 18 months he has had two little grandchildren with him but he expects they will shortly leave him.

Elijah Abbot of Bourbon Co., Ky., private in Company of Capt. Martin in Regt. of Col. Posey-for 18 months from March 1781 to Sept. 1782, was placed on the Kentucky pension roll 3 Oct. 18215 at 08 per month under Acts of 1818 and 1820. Certificate 19511 was issued 17 Oct. 1825.
